Experiences

Three ways to slow down: the hammam, the kitchen, the neighbourhood.

Vaulted interior of the neighbourhood hammam

The Hammam

The neighbourhood hammam opens its doors to us early, before the first visitors. A black soap scrub, clay, a moment of steam and quiet — by reservation, for two guests at a time at most.

Turkish coffee served on a rug, in warm, low light

The Kitchen

My mother still cooks some mornings herself: brik, salade méchouia, a Friday couscous. It often starts with Turkish coffee brewed over hot sand, before joining her at the stove and sitting down together in the courtyard.

A cobbled lane in Sidi Bou Saïd, a blue arched door and a passer-by

Neighbourhood Walks

An hour's walk through the lanes of Sidi Bou Saïd with a family member: ceramic workshops, views over the gulf, the village's history told without notes or a group of twenty.

By reservation

Each experience is arranged the day before, in small groups. Ask at the front desk, or mention it when you book.
